Below is a video showing just one of the many ways we use remote collars effectively to help dogs learn.
Now I understand there is a hell of a lot of stigma attached to remote collars and a lot of uneducated people out there who do not understand these tools and will have you believe they are abusive. I'm working extremely hard to change that perception as are a lot of remote collar users.
When used correctly these tools are a great communication device and it's a device the dog clearly understands if conditioned right. It's never angry, it's never hesitant, it's never fearful or anxious, it's always clear and concise and to the point.
If at this stage you don't know what a remote collar is then please visit our YouTube page 'Southend Dog Training' and watch the playlist 'remote collar videos'. You will find a lot more videos and information on them there.
In this clip I use the the E collar once when one of the Boxers gets OTT (over the top) with the other Boxer. Because he has been conditioned properly to the Remote collar, he understands the communication and responds perfectly. He does not shut down, he still has fun and he still continues to play with the same dog afterwards, but with more self control.
Remote collars are only bad, if they are abused. Just like any other training tool. Even food can be abused in training but that does not make food bad, it's the person abusing food that's bad.
